Application refunds


Your membership premium will be fully or partly refunded when you send a refund request to us, if you:

  • Apply for Bupa Australia OSHC but decide not to take up studies in Australia
  • Pay premiums for cover on the basis of an extended stay but the Department of Immigration and Citizenship does not grant you a Visa extension
  • Are obliged to finish study and leave Australia earlier than your planned approved stay for reasons beyond your control
  • Are granted permanent residency in Australia (a refund would apply for premiums that were paid from the date that permanent residency was granted)
  • Or a dependant can prove that you were not a resident in Australia for a continuous period of three months or more whilst holding a valid Student Visa
  • Can provide proof of being covered by another health insurer for the same period of time

Please note that requests for refunds of a period under a month will not be granted due to processing costs and all refunds will be paid in Australian dollars. Refunds can be paid by EFT directly into your bank account, to your credit card if you paid by Visa or MasterCard, or we can post you a cheque.

Please send your refund request to us in writing including your EFT or credit card details if you wish to have your refund deposited electronically.
