You can apply for OSHC with us at any time, just as long as you have an overseas Student Visa to study in Australia. It’s okay if you’re not enrolled at a university at the time you apply. We can confirm your enrolment details once you‘ve arrived to start your studies or when you’ve been accepted to an educational facility.
It can be confusing what to get first, your OSHC or your Student Visa. We suggest that you apply for health cover first, and if for any reason you don’t start studies as planned, we’ll refund the premium payments you’ve made. We can also provide a letter confirming your application for health cover so that you can show educational facilities and government departments that you have applied successfully.

How do I apply?
You can apply for Bupa Australia OSHC any of the following ways:
Online
Simply complete the OSHC online application form. You’ll need your Student Visa number, an Australian address, email address and telephone number. Payment can be made online with a credit card (Visa or MasterCard).
By mail
Download, print and complete an application form and send it to us at:

Apply when enrolling for your course
Let your International Student Office know that you’re applying for health cover with us and we can provide you with proof of cover. This is called a Temporary Certificate of Cover, and your student office can use it as a form of verification. If you’d like a Temporary Certificate of Cover simply email us.

Remember, you can choose which health care provider you wish to purchase your cover from. If your educational facility has already organised cover for you with another provider you can still apply for Bupa Australia OSHC and seek a refund from the other provider.
Application acceptance
Once your payment has been processed and your Student Visa number confirmed, you’ll receive membership information via email and/or mail. Your cover will commence from the arrival date nominated on your application form and once payment has been verified.
When you’ve finalised your university details, you’ll need to send us your university student ID number to activate your membership.
